January 15, 2016 • By

As a web designer I spend a lot of time finding the right colors for my project, it is no secret that a good color selection can help boost a website. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of different colors to choose from when designing a website. In this article I will look at some of the top color tools to make your life a little easier, if you think I have forgotten any then feel free to let me know in the comments below.

Adobe Colour CC

Adobe Colour CC was previously known as Adobe Kuler, however the company changed the name to Adobe Colour CC. What is great is that It is available in browser-hosted variant which means you can use it no matter where you are. There is also a desktop version which allows you to export your colors to Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.

Hex Color Scheme Generator

Another very handy tool is the Hex Color Scheme Generator, which not only tells you the code of a certain color, but it will also tell you which colors work best in combination with the chosen color. The tool suggests three other colors that you might want to incorporate into your web design.

Devoth‘s HEX 2 RGBA Color Calculator

While it isn’t really difficult to convert HEX codes to RGBa, it is a rather tedious and time consuming process, which is why Devoth‘s HEX 2 RGBA Color Calculator is a great little tool to help you with the process. Simply enter a HEX code and it will automatically give you the code you are looking for.

Shutterstock Spectrum

Another very nifty tool is the Shutterstock Spectrum, which displays a selection of stock photos which use the colors you have specified. What is great about this site is that it allows you to see the stock photos right there without having to go to another page to find the stock photos. Furthermore you can insert a keyword to make your selection more specific.

Get Colors from Image

Have you ever seen an image and wondered what color was used in it, well look no further, with Get Colors from Image, it is as simple as uploading an image and then using the color picker to pick the specific color from which you want the color code.
