Thanks, I was a little worried about posting a picture of myself as a zombie all over the net but I think once the zombie invasion begins It’ll be okay.
Thanks for featuring my site

awesome list, but the swizzle design and photoshop lady sites use the same girl, swizzle took away the glasses. shes on istock so i wouldn’t be surprised if a few more sites are using her too. i love the silverback gorilla, very cool illustration.

all websites and vector illustrator is awesome
May 7, 2008
Great list. But Matt Davey’s site should be .co.uk, not .com, which redirects to search ad pages.

Travis,
Thanks for pointing that out. It is fixed. Sorry, Matt

Alot of these are istock illustrations, very cheap and hardly reak of design inspiration. Why would a web design company use stock illustration when theyre supposed to be designers???

Freelance Switch is like #1..well for me
May 11, 2008
The freelanceswitch char is also stock. You might want to reconsider including sites that use stock illus for their brand

Great list. A few did make me smile. Like has been mentioned though, I did spot at least 4 on that list are stock illustrations from the same artist – ChihHang Chung (iStockPhoto page: http://www.istockphoto.com/user_view.php?id=1422459). That said, the guy’s illustration are just amazing and fully deserved to be used all over the shop.

nice list, its a shame many of the sites are dead.
Jun 12, 2008
So many of these are copy & paste eanka the big headed polish girl seems to have borrowed or shared her looks elsewhere.
Photoshop lady has a double too.
Shameful

Yeah, 3/4 of these are from iStockphoto artists, almost all from the same artists. They’re still great, but you’re giving credit to the wrong people.

http://www.istockphoto.com/RUSSELLTATEdotCOM
http://www.istockphoto.com/chihhang
http://www.istockphoto.com/molotovcoketail
And there are two others there I recognize, but I can’t recall who did them.
Re: Gstar “Why would a web design company use stock illustration when theyre supposed to be designers???” A design house won’t always have illustrators on hand. Plenty of designs can’t draw worth a darn.

Couldn’t help but notice that Photoshop Lady and SwizzleDesign are the same character. Does that count?
Jul 4, 2008
I would add this character, and some info about its creation.
We can look for more characters =)
Oct 5, 2008
This is a great list. My favorite characters are from freelanceswitch.com and verlee.com.
Oct 15, 2008
Awesome! Most artists were from istockphoto.com contributors.

The site\’\’s very professional! Keep up the good work! Oh yes, one extra comment – maybe you could add more pictures too! So, good luck to your team!<

I’m the designer of Swizzle Designs (that’s our old version) but I wanted to mention to all those that say it’s shameful to use other’s istockphoto work – isn’t that what it’s for?
I can design websites, but I’m not an illustrator. I chose that particular illustration, took away the glasses and changed the eye color because with those changes, it looks exactly like me (well the features are a bit exaggerated, my face isn’t that round LOL). But I thought I should defend myself since there have been a few harsh comments.
Thanks!
