25 of the Best Designed Twitter Homepages
You are limited to how far you can modify your Twitter homepage, pretty much changing the background color or image and the color of the links is all you can actually do. So, it is no surprise that the best designed homepages (mainly) come from graphic designers, who with a blank canvas can create something amazing out of nothing.
To truly appreciate these designs make sure your monitor resolution is no less than 1280×768.

Fritten means in Germany “French Fries” so it’s imho a nice brandmark

Note to Twitter: Everything looks grand in wide-screen, but at normal PC resolutions, fugettaboutit. Please make it so we can control our background for different resolutions! Thanks

Some nice graphic designs here, but how can you include designs with unlclickable links? It’s a flaw of Twitter that you can’t have even HTML code behind your background, but even given that, links that can’t be clicked violate the most basic web design guidelines.

Slappin a wallpaper up and changing a few hex colors is not design.
Twitter should let people ditch the white pseudo-paper content background, and allow some html tags.
Currently I disable Twitter images…the matrix of user thumbnails is especially annoying.
Browsing Twitter without a bazillion silly images is, purity.
Who knows? perhaps Twtter would actually work consistently, without the fluffy overhead of asset calls.

It’s funny how rarely I actually look at people’s Twitter home pages with all the other access tools out there, so I imagine much of this effort is wasted. Good stuff though.

some of these are nice… With the constraints, there’s really almost no point in spending a considerable amount of time in designing it. But eh go for whatchu know. Plus Twitter has been making updates just about every other week to their GUI, so if youre trying to display text and things like that it’s almost useless.

But these beautiful backgrounds are appearing fine only with higher resolutions, above 1024×768.
When I see them on my PC (1024×768) they just appear half-covered by the white area of the page, but on my laptop 1280 resolution they appear fine.

… *and* you run your browser windows fullscreen and even then background content will be clipped. Fail on top of fail.
Most of the screenshots above are 1700 pixels wide. The ones that focus on illustration/design look great. Those trying to cram a curriculum vitae along the side? Pretty pointless.

In response to ‘JPP’ , many of these are not simply “slappin a wallpaper up”: they are meticulously DESIGNED backgrounds,not stock wallpaper thrown up. Or maybe you simply don’t understand the meaning of the word ‘design’.
