San-serifs like Arial or Verdana are recommended, although for informational websites larger typeset serifs seem to be the trend for blogs and news sites.
There have been great debates regarding this matter, I'd say one of the most popular fonts used on the web would have to be a winner of this contest. A few of the most widely used fonts on a global scale would have to be Arial, Trebuchet MS, Times New Roman, Helvetica, and Georgia. Most sites use Arial for titles, headings, and anything else of the sort, but many also use Helvetica.
It's really a matter of preferance once you get to these two. I'd choose Arial, because for one it's classic, and it never gets old!
