A common misconception about web designers is that they all come from a design background.  I call myself a web designer (because many "civilians" have no idea what "developer" means) but I came from a coding background (UNIX/C) and taught myself web design.

That creating copy is part of designing a website. The amount of times that someone has asked me to create a website for them and then supplied almost no text or images.

Web designer is neither copywriter, programmer, nor IT-worker.

Apparently we can read minds and "whip it up in no time".

I think not all people seems clear yet with the definition of web designer and web developer.

Web designers never be a web developer. But I'm a designer also a developer. :)
